Committee directs govt. to send technical team at disputed border areas

31 March, Kathmandu : The Social Justice and Human Rights Committee under the Legislature-Parliament has directed the government to send a technical team comprising experts at the disputed Nepal-India border areas soon.

A meeting of the Committee held on Friday directed the government to send the team at the disputed border areas including Punarbas of Kanchanpur district by forging consensus between the two countries, said Under-Secretary of the Committee, Sanjay Dahal.

The meeting also asked the government to provide compensation to the family of Govinda Gautam, who was killed in firing of Seema Surakshya Bal of India in Nepali territory, to make arrangement of treatment to the critically injured, Tikaram Chapagain, and to provide relief to other injured and victim families immediately.

The meeting also formed a five-member probe team under the coordination of Committee member Ongdi Sherpa to carry out investigation into the mysterious death of Kundan Thapa, eighth grader at a school run by Nepal Police. RSS
