Parliament meeting put off to resolve problem

7 May, Kathmandu : Today’s session of the Legislature-Parliament has been postponed to facilitate the resolution of country’s contemporary problems through mutual discussion and talks.
Organising a press conference at the Parliament premises today, Speaker Onsari Gharti said that the parliament meeting was postponed till May 18 with an objective of facilitating to resolve problems through talks and discussion by adopting responsibility towards nation.
The parliament meeting, called for 1:00 pm today, was postponed by issuing a notice. Saying the impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice Sushila Karki has entered the parliament as per the due process, Speaker Gharti said, “The matter how to forward the impeachment motion is the internal and special right of the parliament as it has already entered the parliament.”
The impeachment motion against CJ Karki was registered at the Parliament Secretariat on April 30, backed by signatures of 249 lawmakers as per the Article 101 (b) of the constitution.
Expressing the view that the constitution has clearly mentioned about the duty, responsibilities and rights of the executive, legislature and judiciary as per the principle of the separation of power, she said that all three bodies should remain within their constitutional limit as per the provision of the constitution.
The Speaker said, “Tussle among major organs of the state would have adverse impact in institutionalizing the democracy and in the upcoming local-level elections.”

She added, “It is necessary to find out the solution exercising patience by carrying out self review of their role by all bodies of the state and office-bearers.” RSS
